Guidelines for Students

Category I

Students must design their own picture using this year’s theme. The illustration should be created/drawn on an 8 ½ by 11 inch piece of plain white paper. The theme must be clearly stated somewhere in or near the illustration.

 

Specifications for Category I:

  1. All illustrations must have flat surfaces. Do not use glue or any type of adhesive.
  2. No three-dimensional illustrations will be considered.
  3. Illustrations can be in color or black and white.
  4. Illustrations may not display copyrighted figures, e.g., Garfield, Snoopy, Mickey Mouse.
  5. Illustrations will be evaluated using the following criteria:
  • Adherence to specifications
  • Theme relevance
  • Visual Impact
  • Neatness, spelling accuracy
  • Originality

Category II

Students may create their own technology-based project such as powerpoint/computer designed presentation/webpage using this year’s theme. Presentations can be created in Windows or Mac format. Students must include text with graphics to support the theme.

 

Specifications for Category II:

  1. The project must be in Windows or MAC format, consisting of no more than 6 slides or pages.
  2. The project must have text to support graphics.
  3. The project must be submitted on CD, labeled according to Guidelines for Teachers (see below) and include a hard copy.
  4. Projects may not display copyrighted figures e.g., Garfield, Snoopy, Mickey Mouse.
  5. Illustrations and text will be evaluated using the following criteria:
    • Adherence to specifications
    • Theme relevance
    • Visual Impact
    • Neatness, spelling accuracy
    • Originality
