Congratulations to Serena Keeney- Horsch, the 2023-24 LILL Cohort representative for the state of Maryland. LILL is the ACTFL Leadership Initiative for Language Learning. According to ACTFL, "LILL empowers individuals to become agents of change in order to foster a growth mindset focused on effective teaching, learning, and purposeful nurturing of leadership skills, all in the service of learners."
The application to apply for the NECTFL Mead Leadership Fellows Nomination is now available! The Mead Program supports individuals in the development of a project that contributes to the world language teaching profession and advances quality language instruction. Each scholarship recipient will be assigned a mentor with expertise in the area of that person’s project, and NECTFL will facilitate virtual and, if possible, face-to-face meetings of the two.

The A & R Productions Scholarship is now available. Applications are due November 13, 2022. This scholarship provides free registration to the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL) to two world language educators. MFLA is proud to announce Aiden Ensor, 2021 graduate of Smithsburg High in Washington County and Maryland Seal of Biliteracy recipient has been selected as this year's Ann Beusch Scholar. Aiden currently attends Hagerstown Community College and will transfer to Salisbury University in the fall to pursue a career in Spanish and Secondary Education. Congratulations!
