MFLA is proud to announce Ellie Allen as the 2024 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Allen, a dedicated French teacher at Williamsport High School since 2017, has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to language education and her unwavering commitment to student success.
Ellie consistently puts students first, creating an engaging and supportive classroom environment that fosters both academic achievement and cultural understanding. Her innovative teaching methods inspire her students to excel in French and deepen their appreciation for world languages. MFLA-Maryland is pleased to announce our Autumn Book Study! This autumn, join us for a refreshing exploration of "Common Ground: Second Language Acquisition Theory Goes to the Classroom" by Florencia G. Henshaw and Maris D. Hawkins. This book study is designed for teachers of all experience levels, offering practical insights and a chance to connect with fellow educators.

MFLA is excited to announce the Fall Conference 2024 Call for Proposals! You are doing great things in your classroom, let others in on what is working for you and how you are advancing students' proficiency in world languages. MSDE/CPD Credit opportunity for members World language educators customize their professional growth and enhance their repertoire of theoretical knowledge, networking, and practice by selecting 15 hours of sessions offered by MFLA-Maryland. New and experienced educators self-reflect on the professional learning experiences, engage in discussion with colleagues, and design instruction that aligns to State and National Standards. 15 hours will be evaluated through the completion of a running learning log. These logs will be turned in through via a Google Form and Google Drive File Upload process in which the participant will submit each learning log reflection following the professional learning experience in which they participated.
