The Maryland Language Teacher of the Year -The first step on the path to becoming the 2024 ACTFL Language Teacher of the Year; includes funds to attend NECTFL as the Maryland candidate The Celeste Carr Study Abroad Scholarship- Funds to study abroad The Dora Kennedy New Teacher Scholarship- Funds for a new teacher to participate in a professional learning opportunity (program or conference) The Visual Arts Contest- $50 to each winner at ES, MS, HS, College level; $100 to overall winner whose art appears on cover of conference program Applications for each of these awards can be found on our Awards and Scholarships page

Congratulations to Serena Keeney- Horsch, the 2023-24 LILL Cohort representative for the state of Maryland. LILL is the ACTFL Leadership Initiative for Language Learning. According to ACTFL, "LILL empowers individuals to become agents of change in order to foster a growth mindset focused on effective teaching, learning, and purposeful nurturing of leadership skills, all in the service of learners."
The application to apply for the NECTFL Mead Leadership Fellows Nomination is now available! The Mead Program supports individuals in the development of a project that contributes to the world language teaching profession and advances quality language instruction. Each scholarship recipient will be assigned a mentor with expertise in the area of that person’s project, and NECTFL will facilitate virtual and, if possible, face-to-face meetings of the two.
Final applications are due by Jan 6, 2023 (NEW DATE). For more info, visit our Awards & Scholarships page. The A & R Productions Scholarship is now available. Applications are due November 13, 2022. This scholarship provides free registration to the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL) to two world language educators.
